Design matters on many levels, and thoughtful design is the focus
at all the phases of our projects.
Penza Bailey Architects (PBA) provides the following services:
Architectural Design & Documentation
PBA provides concept design, schematic design, design development and construction documents for many different types of projects including residential, commercial and institutional facilities, and programs. The firm's design and planning success requires that we intently listen to the client and users to discover their unique goals and perspectives and we creatively and sensitively address the client's specific needs.
PBA has a high level of expertise on the laws, standards and guidelines mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act and various state laws that also address accessibility. The architectural staff understands the intent of the legislation through thorough study of the preamble and the mechanics of its technical requirements as documented in the 1991 ADA Accessibility Guidelines and the 2010 ADA AccessibilityStandards.
PBA has extensive experience with space planning and interior design and will ensure a complete and properly documented Procurement Package: basis of design, FFE matrices, finish and color schedules, cutsheets and sample booklets, systems definitions, FFE and Finish plans, FFE/Material/Product Specifications, etc.
Feasibility Studies & Master Planning
PBA provides analysis of facilities. Through a feasibility study, we can determine the practicability of a system or plan or multiple plans that will enable our client to make the best decision. Additionally, we are able to help our clients plan for their future. We help to develop a long-range plan that balances and harmonizes all elements. This can include building upgrades, multiple building renovations, and campus expansions.
We will continue to manage the client's project through construction. We see Construction Administration as a necessary, integral and even helpful part of the overall design process. Our Construction Administration services include the construction collaboration with client, including coordination of Commissioning services; problem resolution; database integrated submittal logs; and web-based RFIs, correspondence, and CO logs.
We hired Jeff Penza as our architect who essentially transformed our 1935 Georgian home into a modern work of art. He was able to create an addition to our home that maintained the charm of an older home with the conveniences and style of more current trends, a kitchen that still inspires awe. He was available for every step of the process, answering our questions and providing expert opinion while maintaining exceptional professionalism. We will hire Penza and Bailey Architects for any projects going forward.
Great Design, Better Living.
"The most effective spaces for living are those that reflect the
personality of the owner.
I look for something, no matter how small or how quirky, that will individualize
a space and make the owner smile inside." -Jeffrey Penza, AIA
Every residential project, renovation, addition, or new custom home, should begin by not only discussing your vision, but by talking about how much you think you want to invest in this endeavor. Together, we will evaluate what can be accomplished within your working budget. Starting the process with an understanding of how your choices effect the budget will help you prioritize your "wish list".
The design and construction process is very exciting and it is our goal to please you. Although every project is unique, our six step process typically includes: Pre-Design/Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding/Construction Contract Negotiation, and Construction Administration. Understanding these phases is important for making the most enlightened decisions and anticipating the costs involved with those decisions.
Penza Bailey Architects looks forward to working with you in not only creating the home of your dreams, but also making the process a fun and rewarding experience.

"I wanted to send you my heartfelt thanks for your work and thoughtfulness about our school. Your willingness to look into our facility and grounds more thoroughly has brought new insight to the project and additional options that will, hopefully, optimize and maximize the learning space for our students... In my four years at (school), you are the third architect firm that I have had the opportunity to interact with and you have really listened and understand the facility needs. I am looking forward to our work together and the options that you will create for our school."
