In the April edition of The Exchange by Building Congress & Exchange, Laura Thul Penza, AIA shares advice on the importance of acoustical considerations in design.
"Penza Bailey Architects tailored the church's renovation to include measures that would better carry sound through the sanctuary. They replaced the existing carpeting with porcelain tile and covered walls at the front of the room with batt board and modest trim. ... These were small changes but they had impact. The congregation (at St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Church in Balimore) immediately noticed an improvement in the sound level," Penza said.
