NALLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Penza Bailey Architects, working with Waldon Studio, was responsible for full K-12 school modernization planning and design for the Nalle Elementary School in compliance with DCPS Ed Specs. Nalle Elementary School, an 84,000 SF masonry school building, located in Washington, D.C., was originally built in 1950 with a 1967 addition. The Architectural/Engineering Team carefully evaluated both building and site and provided thoughtful considerations of access, security, parking, play areas, community appeal, accessibility, and drop-off/pickup.

The A/E Team then provided full construction design and documentation of the Phase 1 work, which included modernization of all of the classrooms, as well as an expanded scope of work, including Corridors, Lobby, Administration Areas, Media Center, Toilet Rooms, ADA accessibility upgrades, new HVAC systems, major electrical and plumbing upgrades, as well as new technology integration. Additional scope for this school also included completely new windows and doors, and a new entrance canopy with landscaping.
