SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH

Nearly totally destroyed by fire, the 110-year old church is the 2nd largest African-American church in Washington, DC. We provided master planning, programming, and implementation of the restoration and 100% expansion. 50% of the facade is all new - designed to match the original. This move allowed us to avoid the actual loss of SF that would have resulted from new setback requirements triggered by new construction. The facade and stained glass windows were totally restored. The organ chamber was refurbished and like-kind windows, light fixtures, and millwork were used throughout to match the original. The award-winning design expanded sanctuary seating to 1,500 and added admin space, choir practice rooms, conference rooms, and classrooms. The two-level vaulted sanctuary has a lobby level on each floor. New features included the catwalk and lighting system, sound control booth, and sound and A/V systems to support TV and radio broadcasting.
