Penza Bailey Architects provided design and construction administration services for the new Walter P. Carter & Lois T. Murray Elementary/Middle Schools with Baltimore City Public Schools. The co-located schools combined students at the nearby Guilford Elementary School, with the current Walter P. Carter school population, and includes the Lois T. Murray special needs school. The two school programs have separate entrances, distinct but approached from a shared plaza space. The wings of the building are organized as classroom blocks that lock into a center section containing destination program elements. This plan organization allows the two schools to operate independently and to each have their own identity. JV with Newman Architects. Completed January 2021.
