STADIUM SCHOOL YOUTH DREAMERS

PBA began working with the Youth Dreamers in 2004 to fulfill its mission to reduce negative youth behavior and promote positive social values through the creation of a youth-run youth center. Providing architectural services to renovate a private home into a youth center, the firm guided students through zoning variance requirements and permitting processes. Bringing the building into compliance with current codes and ADA standards, and restoring its original character were imperative. The renovation retained the scale of the building and restored/replaced finishes, including vinyl siding, new windows, gutters and downspouts. An existing addition was removed and a small new addition was added. The center is a safe environment for the youth to retreat to and includes a cyber classroom, meeting rooms, offices, game room, study area, outdoor recreational area and basic kitchen facilities.

The project has won numerous awards including the Maryland Governor's 2010 Award of Excellence in Community Development.
