BETHUNE RESIDENCE HALL

For location on the southern slope of its historic urban campus, the proposed Bethune Hall will house 312 undergraduate women. The narrow site permits the new signature residence hall to frame spectacular views looking toward the Capitol, downtown and north toward McMillan reservoir. The rectangular structure will complete the fourth side of an existing three-sided residential quad. The south facade, facing the quadrangle and city, is conceived as a large porch on a house facing the green lawns. The building will be an integrated live/learn complex incorporating a computer lab, multimedia community room, a café-style eatery, and fitness center. This project was designed in conjunction with RMJM (formerly Hillier Group).
