Albemarle Square is the name of the affordable component within the master development of Flag House Courts, the redevelopment of an existing public housing site near Little Italy. Awarded to a private master developer to create a mixed-income community, a Baltimore-based minority developer took on the responsible to deliver the ten “affordable units” known as Albemarle Square. Seven of the ten new infill units face directly onto Baltimore Street and attach to existing 100 year oldrowhouses. The remaining three units connect directly to the historic Jonestown PUD (Planned Unit Development). The three-story townhomes have four bedrooms and two and one-half baths. Designed for fast track construction, units are “panelized” - but not modular - and represent the developer’s first experience with a panelized system.
