Federal Hill Parking Garage

Located in the historic neighborhood, surrounded by a mix of uses ranging from private housing to small, family-owned shops to one of the City’s premier destination “market” attractions, the program called for 263 spaces on three levels. The garage needed to structurally support a future additional level of parking. The building encompasses the entire site with a three-bay, side-by-side, single-threaded helix layout.

The garage was clad in a brick veneer with the color, character and texture of its neighboring historic structures. Segmented brick arches encase the ground level openings. Brick corbeling was used to highlight the coping. Brick pilasters were used on the stair towers and at the main vehicle entrance to emphasize verticality and break up the horizontal expression in the parking decks.

Two stair towers and an elevator provide vertical circulation. In addition, the garage houses a small operations office, toilet facility and cashier’s booth.
