Youth Detention Center Design I

The new Youth Detention Center (YDC) is the first phase of a master plan for the redevelopment of the State of Maryland’s Baltimore City Corrections Campus. The YDC is a five-level, 180 bed facility designed to house pre-trial and sentenced juvenile offenders. The facility will operate on a direct-supervision maximum security model for behavioral adjustment of its co-ed population. The new facility will include Central Administration, Staff Services and Dining, Visitation Services, Intake and Processing, Medical and Mental Health Services, Food Service, Laundry, Building Support Services, Recreation/ Multipurpose functions, and a Parking Garage.

A special feature of the YDC is the full-service 35,000 SF Eager Street Academy co-ed high school that will be operated by Baltimore City Public School System. See LEARN : K-12 for details about the Eager Street Academy.

Slated for LEED Silver certification, YDC is being completed in Joint Venture with PSA-Dewberry.
