EAGER STREET ACADEMY

Eager Street Academy is a 35,000 SF self-contained, full-time high school within the Baltimore Youth Detention Center. The school is a distinct element, a “normalizing” environment, within a secure correctional facility. The school includes 8 regular classrooms, plus a science lab, technology lab, occupational lab, two computer labs, arts and crafts room and media center. Student support areas include spaces for testing, special education, social worker, psychologist and guidance counselor. The Education Facility was coordinated with BCPSS and MSDE and has the capacity to serve 230 high school age inmates.

The high school includes a full gymnasium/auditorium with 6 courts. Both the gymnasium and the school educational and support spaces are in compliance with the State of Maryland high performance requirements and met LEED Gold certification.
