Through its On-Call UNICOR (Federal Prison Industries) Contract, Penza Bailey Architects was hired to provide architectural and construction administrative services for the full conversion of an empty shell facility. The project included a 22,000 SF renovation for a secure classroom facility for the Defense Acquisition University at the Defense Logistics Agency based in Richmond, Virginia. The classroom facility contains multiple storage areas, four classrooms, an educational technology room, a conference room including seven separate breakout rooms, administrative office spaces, kitchen area/breakroom, and bathrooms.  The project included access controls and security electronics, as well as, state-of-the-art classroom IT / AV systems.
