USACE KIRK ARMY MEDICAL CENTER

Penza Bailey Architects provided A/E services for the replacement of the HVAC System for the entire 30,000 SF Kirk Army Medical Center located on Aberdeen Proving Ground, the U.S. Army’s oldest active proving ground. The project challenges included maintaining fire protection for all new openings, HVAC distributions, chases, equipment assemblies, and joint systems. This was accomplished through properly rated penetration fire stop systems. New ceiling systems and finishes, roof penetration details and equipment supports were provided to accommodate the work. PBA coordinated the reinstallation of all lighting, fire suppression, ceiling devices and wall junctions for the new ceiling; provided new Architectural finishes throughout; provided a thorough building and fire safety code analysis; and upgraded a portion of the Medical Center to meet current fire separation requirements. PBA is currently working on a 2nd phase project at Kirk which includes modernization and renovation of the 1st floor.
