JOHNS HOPKINS APPLIED PHYSICS LAB

The 10.7 acre Services Area Complex consists of two separate high-tech buildings involving extensive systems integration, including security/intrusion detection, redundant power systems, and campus infrastructure coordination. The Trades Building houses the Technical Services, Operations, Construction, General Maintenance, and Car Pool Departments. This new 63,230 SF, two-story building forms the operations backbone of the entire JHU-APL campus complex and includes the Emergency Response Communications and Call Center. Shops for automotive, equipment maintenance, welding, carpentry and painting required special HVAC and electrical systems coordination. The 24/7 secure facility required sleeping quarters and support functions for overnight occupancy. The Multi-Use Building was designed for Naval & Aerospace Research. The 22,700 SF facility houses 6 separate high-bay research, design and testing labs, manufacturing, assembling and storage, a large anechoic chamber for acoustical research and testing, special environmentally controlled spaces for archive storage and hazmat storage, and secure portals for sat-comm equipment roll-out.
