PADONIA INTERNATIONAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Originally constructed in 1968, the Padonia International Elementary School is a 46,245 GSF one story brick masonry building that sits on a 14.3-acre site in Cockeysville, Maryland. The school utilized 8 relocatable classroom units on-site.

Penza Bailey Architects was selected by BCPS to provide full A/E services for the design of an addition and renovations within the existing school. The goal of this project was to accommodate all students within the school building and to reduce or eliminate the need for relocatable classrooms on site. The design of a singlestory classroom addition, with a similar look and elevation of the existing school, was used to extend the school from the west side of the existing building and contain 8 new classrooms. After study and investigation, PBA selected the most cost effective location and orientation for the proposed addition; minimizing disturbance of the existing campus and facilities. The project was completed in August of 2018.
